Web players
There are many different web players i.e. the BBC iplayer and YouTube, they all have different bit rates, these are the number of bits that are conveyed or processed per unit of time, this determines how fast the video will download from the server to your computer. The BBC iplayer has a veriable bit rate this means that it varies with how many people are on the iplay, i.e. slower or faster.
CD rom
CD-rom is a pre-pressed Compact Disc which contains data accessible to, but not writable by, a computer.

kiosk
An Interactive kiosk is a computer terminal that provides information access via electronic methods. Most kiosks provide unattended access to web applications such as HR, Benefits, Informational and Loyalty.
Early interation interactive kiosks sometimes resembled telephone booths, but can also be used while sitting on a bench or chair. Interactive kiosks are typically placed in high foot traffic settings such as hotel lobbies or airports.
Integration of technology allows kiosks to perform a wide range of functions, evolving into self-service kiosks. For example, kiosks may enable users to enter a public utility bill account number in order to perform an online transaction, or collect cash in exchange for merchandise. Customised components such as coin hoppers, bill acceptors, card readers and thermal printers enable kiosks to meet the owner's specialised needs.

Current uses of vidio in interactive media
DVD video- this is a consumer video format used to store digital video on DVD Roms discs. Discs that use this formate need a DVD drive and an MPEG-2 decorder.
The following formats are allowed for MPEG-2 video:
At 25 fps (usually used in regions where PAL is standard):
720 × 576 pixels MPEG-2 (Called full D1)
704 × 576 pixels MPEG-2
352 × 576 pixels MPEG-2 (Called Half-D1, same as the China Video Disc standard)
352 × 288 pixels MPEG-2
At 29.97 or 23.976 fps (usually used in regions where NTSC is standard):
720 × 480 pixels MPEG-2 (Called full D1)
704 × 480 pixels MPEG-2
352 × 480 pixels MPEG-2 (Called Half-D1, same as the China Video Disc standard)
352 × 240 pixels MPEG-2
The following formats are allowed for MPEG-1 video:

Banner ads
Banner ads are simply advertisements when you are browsing the web these could be anywhere, most of the time is you search something on the web and you will have advertisments come up for what you would be looking for on the web, i.e. if you put steroied on google search it will come up with advertisments for steroieds.
Touch screen kiosks
Within game (movies)

In some games i.e. Tomb Raider and grand theft auto 4 there are movie clips in the games themselves, these are there to show how the story is progressing and also maybe for hints.
Most start at the beggining of the game to show what the story is about and also to help you get a vage idea what is happening in the game. They also happen when you get to a key point in the game i.e. when you have completed a critical level in the game.

The Seeker website
This website does not have as much PNG32 as the Narnia website, but it has a movie which can be easily created in flash it also has good visual feedback on the movie its self and also on the site.
You can tell were the PNG32 is on the page and its on the Celtic cross and also on the bullet points.

Narnia Website
on this website the are a number of graphics which have used PNG 32 format, you can tell this because when the page loads all the graphics, fade on to the page. This is because the graphics are transparent so when loading on to the page you can see the background around the image instead of white space.

what is CGI
CGI is a common gateway interface which is a specification for transferring information between the world wide web and a CGI program. A CGI program is any program which is designed to accept and return data that confirms to the CGI specification. The program could be written in any programming language. CGI programs are the most common way for web servers to interact dynamical with any user. Many HTML pages that contain forms use a CGI program because it processes the forms data first.
what is a url
A URL is a uniform resource locater which is the global adress of documents and other resorces on the web. The first part if the adress is called a protocol identifier and it indicates which protocol to use, and the second part of the adress is called a resorce name and it indicates what the ip adress or the domain name where the reasource is located.

what is a browser
Browsers are basically software programs that allow you to search for and view various kinds of information on the Web, such as web sites, video, audio.
What is a Server
A server is just a computer that sits on a network waiting for clients to ask for things. It talks to the world through its network cable, it thus does not normally need a screen or keyboard. It is not the computer, but the programs running on the server that wait for client programs to ask for things. Many different server programs can be running at once and a server can thus be responding to many kinds of requests (of course the more that are running the more possible security holes there are). The server can respond to multiple requests quickly and simultaneously. Servers generally store data and clients ask for it, edit it and add to it.
Almost all computers today are connected by the internet. Vast storehouses of information are out there on servers and we access them using a web browser like Netscape, Opera, Firefox or Internet Explorer. Increasingly we are not just looking up information on the internet but controlling it as we do our banking, buying and selling, shopping, trip planning and booking, etc on these servers. The kind of computer we have is not as important anymore, as long as it runs a nice web browser.

Adobe Flash player is a multimedia platform. Flash is a way to add animation and interactivaty to websites. Flash is used to create websites.
Server
A server is a computer program that provides services to other computer programs (and their users), in the same or other computer. The physical computer that runs a server program is also often referred to as server.[1]
Services can be supplied centrally by the use of a server; in other cases all the machines on a network have the same status with no dedicated server, and services are supplied peer-to-peer.

Colour
A colour circle, based on red, yellow and blue, is traditional in the field of art. Sir Isaac Newton developed the first circular diagram of colors in 1666. Since then scientists and artists have studied and designed numerous variations of this concept. Differences of opinion about the validity of one format over another continue to provoke debate. In reality, any color circle or color wheel which presents a logically arranged sequence of pure hues has merit.

White balck and gray space
This comes mostly into Internet sites, because of how they are laid out gray space is the righting on the page white space is the border around the the page, black space is images on the website.
If black, gray and white space is used to a good degree the page will look good i.e. the bbc website if it is used to a bad degree it will look rubbish.
If there is no white space and all the black space and gray space is jumbled together this will make the page very hard to conserntrate on and it make the writing impossible to read.
If the website has a border around righting and pictures it makes everything alot more easy to read and take in the just looking at one big jumbled mess.

Screen design
MockupScreens helps you to sketch screen mock ups of your application and organize screen flow in scenarios. With MockupScreens you can experiment interactively with your clients, and quickly visualize your application, even before the coding has started.
MockupScreens is easy to use, and makes you productive immediately. You don't have to know programming, and you don't have to be an artist, to create quick and low-fidelity screen sketches.
Create Better Design!
Misunderstandings are costly in software design. If you are not careful, you could find yourself aiming at a moving target or even end up creating design that nobody needs or wants. The right thing to do is to use prototypes as a tool to show you where you are wrong.

Website designs
The main bad website that i looked at in terms of aesthetics's is bad. First there is no white space around any of the pictures or text so to me its all a load of jumble. Also the web page has to much black and gray space because there is to much text and and to many pictures. If this website wanted to be better they would have to get the contrast right of black, gray and white scale. The colours also do not contrast eachother.
Also all the text is different colours to which makes the page jumbled and hard to consontrate on.

The most awsome website every
http://news.bbc.co.uk/
This is the bbc news website, from my first look at this website i have seen that the design on the website has a better layout, as the menubar is located on the left side of the screen which in my eyes is alot better because in England all books start from left to right so most people when looking at a website or poster will look from left to right.
After choosing of of the main menues i.e. England, wails, helth or anything like that it will come up with todays new.
The main storys will be in bold at the top so it catches your eye much quicker than some of the more unimportant storys. The main Story will have a bigger title and also a bigger picture to cath the eye and it also goes over two colems.
The website also does not have any clashing colours, but the colours they use go well with eachother.
The whole website is set out to a better standard, even the writing is set out to an easy reading standard. I havent found anything to help people who may have sight disabilities but still it is an awsome website even for the likes of me.

another bad website, once again with the jumble and not having any order to it. Also all the writing again is in different fonts and all extreamly bright.

This is also another very bad website when i first clicked onto it BAM colour everywhere you really do not have a clue where to look first. After you have got over the colour spasm in your face you slowly realise what the website is about, but first you have to get over all the bad subtitles which again are all different colours and sizes then from this if you have stayed on the website long enough you get to the actual writing which blends into the background. From this the background is really horrible and destracts you from the website it's self.

This is a link to one of the worst websites you will ever see.
The main problems with this website is that everything is way to jumbled and when you look at the page you can not find anything. Also the colours on the page are to bright and hurt YOUR EYES, and also all the sub headings are all different fonts and sizes to confuse matters worse. Also all language is in English with no links to other language websites so this will not help people who do not speek English.
The main emages are also to small to see along with the writing if you suffer with dyslexia this would be one of the worce websites in the world to go on maybe because your brain will explode.
I have also found that there is no order to the website what so ever it jumps from one thing to another and also the writing.

legal and ethical constraints
Legal and Ethical Constraints
· Dater protraction act
· Computer misuse act
· Obscene publication act
Dater protection act
The dater protection act is the storage of any dater you may give out, after giving dater out like personal information this has to be confidential to the company that you gave the dater to. If this dater gets into the wrong hands this means the company will be breaking the act. There is a penalty to this but it all depends on what is broken.
As an individual you have the rights under the dater protection act to get access, compensation and the prevention of processing.
Computer misuse act
The computer misuse act is based on if anyone uses a computer to secure information or dater held in a computer, this is just like hacking information and also making viruses for computers, the main penalty if you get caught doing this is up to five years imprisonment.
Obscene publications act
The obscene publications act is to prevent any obscene imagery and language aloud on the internet of television. The penalty if caught downloading this is six months imprisonment if caught uploading the images its two years imprisonment.
If you have any problems with any images on any websites or television commercials all you have to do is complain and if it has the right amount of complaints it will get taken off the site, this happened to the well known Shenell Perfume because in the television commercial they showed a dead woman.
· Racial act
· Disability act
Racial act
The racial act is to provide that on television or the internet that there are no racial images to cause any disagreement with any person. This means that it has to soot every person; this includes gender, age and race.
Disability act
This act is to help out disabled people in any way possible. This could include people with learning difficulties i.e. dyslexia, hearing impairments and vision impairments.
People with dyslexia find it hard to spell and sometimes find it hard to stare at a white screen for a long time so to help with this some computers are programmed to have a coloured screen to help with this and also if reading long paragraphs there would be a tool to make the computer read out what the paragraph says this will also help the visually impaired. To help people with hearing impairments you may have a signer if it’s on the television or if on the internet there will be subtitles to explain how to work things.
· Copyright act
Copyright act
The copyright act is to allow people to make rights of the own work i.e. Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse, this means if anyone was to take the creation of Mickey Mouse and use it to sell anything like a shoe or cloths Disney could take them to cough over this. Copyright also means that the author of the work may have control of and profit from the work. The copyright law also lasts up to between fifty to a hundred years after the author’s death, or a finity period for anonymous or corporate authorship.
This is also very closely based on the designers rights act.

The Data Protection ActThe Data Protection Act works in two ways. First in states that anyone who processes personal information must comply with eight principles, which make sure that personal information is,
Fairly and lawfully processed.
Proceesed for limited purposes.
Adequate, relevant and not excessive.
Accurate and up to date.
Not kept for longer than necessary.
Processed in line with your rights.
Secure.
Not transferred to other countries without adequate protection.
The second area covered by the act provides individuals with important right, including the right to find out what information is held on computer and most paper records.

The data protection act can be related to the design world by if you had your own online shop and a customer was to pay for a piece of work online you are responsible for there card detail and then protecting it so no body Else can get hold of it.
The Computer Misuse Act.
This deals with viruses, hacking and copying, downloading illegal software/ unlicensed and unauthorised computer access. so it is to do with protected the computer system as a whole than just data. The best way to get around this is to have a strong computer policy with consequence making employees know that they can download stuff onto the works computer system. Also by training the staff and to get them into the habits of creating this like a decent password and locking or logging of the computer when they are not using it.
Obscene Publications
This is about suitable content for an audience. While there is some legal status to this area it is about ethics and peoples opinion on what is suitable.
You would not want blood guts and scenes of a mature nature being aimed at a young audience or be shown pre watershed on the television. As this may upset and offend certain people and should be shown or used else where.
So you need to try make everyone who see a poster or what not happy especial if it is for the public to see.
Regulators like Ofcom and the Advertising Standards Agency monitor this type of thing making sure what is suitable or not. If a publication gets so many complaints then it would be taken of the air.
What games and certainly films do is give them rating on ages that think are suitable for that film.
The one in Britain is the BBFC, British Board of Film Classification. In which they decide what is suitable for certain ages. they also do dvd and games. Though it should be noted that it does not stop buying someone buying/ getting hold of an 18 rated game who age is only seven.
Also the obscene Publication act deals with how somebody may react to a game, poster etc. If a game makes someone go out there in the real world and start killing people, i.e the game Manhunt which got banned because of this. Also games like Grand Theft Auto cause controversy every time a new game comes out due to its mature content and idea of just running over people for fun!
There are many media arguments weather or not that the films/ games etc do effect our mind or if the people who seemed to be affected to already be unstable. So may say that this argument of i saw it on a film to an easy way of getting out of it. While there is strong and weak evidence for and against both sides the regulators can not take any chances.
Disability
Making sure everybody can follow and see, hear what is going on.
People who are deaf you would have subtitles, or a signer so they can understand what is going on.
Blind people would introduce braille, and a reader, some sort of audio version.
People who find it hard to see may have a bigger size font.
Designers point of view you could have a custom keyboard with bigger keys so the letter can be printed bigger, or by having more colours and possibly a different layout to the qwerty.
Racial
This is ethical and can be about colour, religion and what not. Your work can not be bias in a way towards a certain group of people. it can not encourage racism and discrimination.
